Volkswagen has given their best selling Golf a mid-cycle makeover, including a few changes to the exterior, power upgrades, and new tech options for the dashboard, which will be available next year. On the outside, the 2018 Volkswagen Golf has all new bumpers, to go with LED lights that will replace the old Xenon ones, both front and back. The grill’s lower chrome strip now runs through to the daylight lamps, and the air intakes have been redesigned to give a more aggressive, mean look.

Further changes can be found under the hood, where the old 6-speed clutch has been ditched for a 7-speed that Volkswagen says will eventually replace all their older gearboxes. There’s a new 1.5L, 148hp petrol variant to go along with the older 1.0L engine that will come fitted with techs like cylinder-deactivation to help increase fuel economy.

Golf fans will be even more excited to hear that the GTI has been given a performance upgrade, and will now ship with 227hp as standard. The performance model will deliver an even more impressive 242hp!

The most exciting news comes for the interior, where an Audi-style active info display has been installed in the dashboard. This will replace the conventional speedometer and rev counter dials with a customizable digital display. The infotainment touchscreen system has been enhanced too, and will now come in options of 6.5 inch, 8.0 inch, and 9.2 inch. Those that opt for the largest will get gesture and voice control.

The 2018 Volkswagen Golf is expected to go on sale in the UAE from Fall 2017.
