To ensure the safety standards of school buses, the Emirates Standardization and Metrology Authority (ESMA) has started examining all of them. The campaign aims to guarantee the safety of students.
The director of ESMA, Abdullah Al Maeeni told media that the inspection process is twofold. First the bus operators will perform an internal examination of the school buses and then ESMA would double check the buses to ensure they meet the safety and technical standards set by the authorities.
The inspection campaign focuses on examining the condition of the bus seats and making sure that emergency exits, first aid kits and fire extinguishers are accessible in case of an emergency.
ESMA pledges to keep launching such campaigns to make certain that the pupils are provided with a comfortable, convenient and more importantly, a safe ride to school and back home, said Al Maeeni.
