The electric car race is getting hotter with each day and Ford has now decided to jump into the fray as well. It is pertinent to recall that the Detroit based automotive manufacturer was among the pioneers of the alternative car technology concept. They even took away the Ford Model E trademark from Tesla by successfully contesting that they were the first to patent it for further deployment. Therefore, Tesla had to settle for the Model 3.
It seems the time is now ripe to put the Model E trademark to its intended use. Ford has decided to launch the model with all-electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid engine configurations. It has been reported that the model may also be offered in varying trunk styles in addition to the three powertrains.
The Ford Model E will be built at a new assembling plant in Mexico with an expected arrival time of 2019. According to the company CEO Mark Fields, the all-electric version will have a range of 200 miles or more. Ford seems to be following in the footsteps of other automakers like Tesla and Chevrolet who have already announced their electric cars launch.
The competition is growing and this is nothing but good news for us.
