The hype surrounding the 2018 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang is getting louder by the day. Recently, spied video has emerged showing the new ride moving near the Ford’s Dearborn driving test track in Michigan, USA. So, we have more evidence to believe that the new Ford Mustang is imminent.
No concrete or confirmed information has been made available regarding the 2018 Ford Shelby GT500. Rumours have it that the new ride will be equipped with a twin turbocharged 5.2 litre V8 engine capable of churning out a power in excess of 700 horses. Some have estimated the power to approach 800 ponies. The existing Shelby GT500 spins out 662 horsepower using a supercharged V8.
It is pertinent to point out that this will be the first time that twin turbo charging technology will be employed in the Ford Mustang. Only time will tell whether the next generation Ford Mustang can outgun rivals like Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat through this technology.
Spied information and speculation suggest minor aerodynamic modifications in the new ride. The wing looks a tad smaller as compared to the previous versions. The engine sound does not imply turbo charging, but we can never be sure. There is no hint of a forced induction as well. The sound entails a bass with some old school growling associated with the muscle cars of the 60s and the 70s.
All roads now lead to the 2017 Detroit Auto Show next January where we expect to catch a glimpse of this power-obsessed muscular ride.
