It seems that Nissan is putting its heart and soul in the electric car movement. The automaker displayed the Nissan BladeGlider Prototype as a concept car at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. Now the working version has been brought to add a new flavour to the Rio Olympic Games.
The ride is being touted as an ‘EV for car lovers’ by Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and Sales at Nissan, Daniel Shillaci. He believes the car is a giant leap forward towards a zero emission future.
The displayed prototype has a capacity to seat 3 passengers in the 1+2 configuration. The rear is much wider as compared to the front. Nissan claims this design has more aerodynamic efficiency as well as better drive handling.
The power-train of the sports EV comprises of two electric motors of 130 kw each driving the rear wheels. The motors will be powered by 220 kwh lithium ion batteries supplied by Williams Advanced Engineering from England. The performance specifications of the Nissan BladeGlider Prototype include 0 to 60 mph ramp time of less than five seconds and a top speed of 115 mph.
We still do not have any confirmation about the commercial production of Nissan BladeGlider Prototype, but it sure can give Tesla a run for its money.
