Dubai Police handed over two Hyundais to White Points winners for not committing any traffic violations for an entire year. The keys were handed over to the proud winners at a ceremony at the Dubai Police Headquarters.
This year’s top prize went to Dr. Fatima Darwish Al Emmandi who won a Hyundai Veloster. Khowla Waleed Al Marzouqi won a Hyundai Sonata in the new category of motorists aged 18-21. The prizes were sponsored by Hill Advertising. A variety of gifts were distributed to 1,800 other motorists with good safety records.
Dr. Al Emmandi has decided to donate her car to the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment. She encourages other motorists to also take road safety seriously.
The white points system was initiated in 2013 and aims to incentive good road safety behaviour. The program is the first of its kind to use rewards in order to promote road safety. White points can be earned by any person holding a valid Dubai driving license and a vehicle registered under the same name. The maximum number of white points earned in a year is 24 (two for each month). Motorists lose white points if the vehicle is involved in any traffic violation, regardless of the identity of the driver.
