Chris Evans, Top Gear host, has been in the eye of a storm for some time now. To make matters worse, the motor show host recently resigned as the show ratings plummeted to a record low level. Taking responsibility for the show’s failure to attract considerable audience, Chris Evans acknowledged that despite his maximum efforts, the show still lacked viewer interest.
The resignation was announced hours after the Metropolitan Police announced that they are currently probing allegations of sexual assault against the TV show presenter. A woman, who worked as Chris Evans former colleague, accused him of groping her breasts after exposing himself to her in the 1990s. The TV show host has denied these allegations terming them a witch hunt.
BBC sources deny any linkage between the resignation and the sexual assault probe revealing that the decision was made before Chris Evans was accused of sexual assault. Evans will continue hosting his Radio 2 breakfast show while the reins at the Top Gear will most likely be taken over by Matt Leblanc.
