The 2019 Mercedes G-Class has been caught by spy photographers while test driving. It was heavily disguised. The spy shots reveal that the 2019 Mercedes G-Class boasts a wider wheelbase compared to the current model.
It also renders wider windscreen, hood and grille. The wider body is adopted in order to house a new suspension system, which aims to improve the drive performance. Furthermore, the wider stance will help in increasing the interior space. However, in terms of height, the 2019 Mercedes G-Class prototype is shorter than the existing G Class model.
The body kit makes use of aluminium and high-strength steel, which keeps the weight low, consequently improving the aerodynamics of the vehicle. It is expected to weigh 440 pounds lesser than the current model. On the inside, we can expect it to feature latest equipment such as new driver-assist features, electronic power steering, and a state-of-the-art infotainment system.
Talking about the powertrain, the 2019 Mercedes G-Class is expected to carry the new inline 6 cylinder engine, while a V8 may arrive too.
It might debut sometime in 2018.
