Dubbed as “Project Cullinan” the British luxury automaker is developing a new Rolls-Royce SUV. It will compete with some of the most luxurious and expensive SUVs in the market including the new Bentley Bentayga and Range Rover SV Autobiography.

The Rolls-Royce SUV prototype was first caught testing in March, and now Autoguide has some more pictures, which give us a good insight into the vehicle. Rolls-Royce described its SUV as a “high-sided, all-terrain motor car”. It will ride on the automaker’s new aluminium platform. In fact, a lot of Rolls-Royce models scheduled to be launched in future will be based on this architecture.

Rolls-Royce will develop an all-new suspension and all-wheel drive system for this SUV, to make it capable of delivering the signature “magic carpet ride” which is the trademark of the brand.

Under the hood, the “Project Cullinan” is expected to carry a 6.8-litre V12 engine, also found in the Rolls-Royce Phantom. The Rolls-Royce SUV will most likely launch sometime in 2017.
