Toyota’s definitely going all out at this year’s SEMA show. They’ve already shown off two wild builds—a Land Cruiser convertible and a two-door 4Runner—for Las Vegas, and I’d bet there’s more coming.
So Calty Design came up with the Land Cruiser Rox, an open-air beast. It’s got no C- or D-pillars, and instead of a roof, they threw on a reclining soft top. To handle the missing metal, they added extra reinforcement so it stays sturdy.
Other upgrades? Half doors, extended fenders, serious off-road tires, a light bar, steel bumpers, reinforced skid plates—the works. Oh, and a swinging half-tailgate with a spare tire for easy access.
Now the 4Runner concept, they call it the TRD Surf. It’s a total throwback to 1980s beach vibes. Toyota chopped the back doors off, took off part of the roof, and set up an open-air cab with a roll bar—plenty of room for surfboards. It’s got a two-tone ocean-themed paint with turquoise accents, chunky off-road wheels, and even a mild lift on the suspension.
Under the hood, they’ve kept the 2.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine. It’s pushing out the usual 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, but now with a custom exhaust that gives it a growlier sound. This still links up to the same eight-speed auto and full-time four-wheel-drive system.
Both the Land Cruiser Rox and TRD Surf will be on display at Toyota’s SEMA booth, which opens November 5 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and wraps up November 8.
