Nissan’s largest SUV is undergoing a significant transformation for 2025. The redesigned three-row Armada features a sleeker exterior, a tech-rich cabin, a new engine, and, for the first time in the US, an off-road-ready trim.
Under the hood of the 2025 Armada is a new twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine sourced from the Infiniti QX80. This engine produces 425 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque—an increase of 25 horsepower and 103 pound-feet over the previous V-8. It is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with adaptive four-wheel drive.
The 2025 Armada boasts a 25% increase in torsional rigidity and a 57% boost in lateral stiffness compared to its predecessor. Nissan claims these improvements enhance ride quality and off-road capability, especially with the new Pro-4X trim. The Armada now also includes a standard integrated class four tow hitch, allowing it to tow up to 8,500 pounds.
The new Pro-4X off-road trim introduces several upgrades to the Armada, including 20-inch all-terrain tires, an adaptive air suspension, a metal skid plate, and a genuine electronic locking rear differential. This locking differential, previously exclusive to the Middle Eastern-market Nissan Patrol, is now available in the US.
With the air suspension set to its highest position, the Armada Pro-4X offers 9.6 inches of ground clearance and stands 2.1 inches taller than the standard model. A refreshed front fascia featuring a classic three-slot grille design improves the approach angle, while an upgraded rear bumper enhances the departure angle. Overall, the Armada Pro-4X achieves a 33.9-degree approach angle, a 25.3-degree breakover angle, and a 24.3-degree departure angle.
For those who prefer not to venture off the beaten path, the new Platinum Reserve model stands as the top choice. It features distinctive 22-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, a rear LED light bar with a full-width taillight, and interior upgrades such as massaging seats for both the driver and passenger, plus a head-up display.
The 2025 Armada is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including automatic emergency braking, high-beam assist, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and more. A new addition for 2025 is the wide front view, offering up to 170 degrees of visibility ahead, and certain models like the Pro-4X come with an “invisible” hood.
All 2025 Armada models come standard with Pro Pilot Assist, which handles steering, acceleration, and braking. The SL model and above include Nissan’s Pro Pilot 2.1 system, providing hands-free highway driving with automatic lane-change assist. This marks the third Nissan vehicle to feature Pro Pilot 2.1, following the Ariya and Rogue.
Inside, the 2025 Armada boasts two 12.3-inch screens—a digital cluster and a center touchscreen—with Google features such as maps, assistant, and the Play Store available on SL trims and above. Upgrading to the Pro-4X, Platinum, or Platinum Reserve models gives you dual 14.3-inch displays (similar to those in the Infiniti QX80) with enhanced functionality. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard on all models.
While the 2025 Nissan Armada’s pricing is yet to be announced, Nissan assures it will remain competitive with rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, and Toyota Sequoia. The updated SUV will be available for purchase later this year.
