Following the Mitsubishi fuel economy scandal, the company’s President, Tetsuro Aikawa, decided to step down from his position along with the executive vice president in charge of quality and product strategy, Ryugo Nakao.

Mitsubishi was recently caught in a fuel economy scandal due to which the company suffered a great deal of loss. The automaker confessed that it forged the fuel economy data of all its Japanese cars since 1991. The recent reports on Mitsubishi fuel economy scandal suggest that ‘desktop calculations’ were used to measure the fuel economy rating of most of the models including the Outlander plug-in hybrid.

The company’s stock price fell by 15 percent and Nissan decided to buy 34% of the Mitsubishi’s shares in hopes of getting the company back on track and restoring its reputation.

The previous president Osamu Masuko, who was made the CEO as Tetsuro Aikawa was promoted to his position, is now again temporarily positioned the president of the company.
