The 2024 Kia Carnival sports a revamped, SUV-like design with a bold new face featuring a large rectangular grille and cube headlights. Its chiseled appearance, enhanced by “Star Map” LED running lights, lends it an imposing presence. With updated taillights and a tweaked rear fascia, the minivan exudes a beefy vibe, accentuated by an optional skid plate. Despite its SUV aesthetics, the sliding side doors reaffirm its identity as a front-wheel-drive minivan.

The interior of the vehicle is spacious, offering 145.1 cubic feet of cargo space when the second and third rows are removed. Passengers can enjoy luxurious amenities such as reclining seats and footrests in the second row.

Optional Connected Car Rear Cockpit entertainment suite features multiple 14.6-inch HD monitors. The front boasts a new dash and center console with enhanced technology, including Kia’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit and Digital Key 2 for using smart devices as keys, alongside over-the-air updates.

The latest model introduces a hybrid powertrain, combining a 1.6L turbo engine with a 54kW motor, totaling 242hp and 271lb-ft torque. It’s not plug-in, so no electric-only mode. The 3.5L V6 option remains, producing slightly less power.

Kia stays loyal to sedans with the 2024 K5 update. While less dramatic than the Carnival, it features a revamped front with larger corner vents, updated headlights with “Star Map” LED signature resembling lightning bolts, and new taillights, tweaked rear fascia, and an integrated spoiler.

The K5’s interior now features new controls below the climate vents. Kia enhances standard features on some trims, such as the EX, offering a Bose stereo, 10-way power driver seat, heated steering wheel, and Digital Key system. The 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine replaces the 1.6-liter turbo, boosting power to 191 hp. The GT retains its turbocharged 2.5-liter, producing 290 hp.

Both vehicles will debut at the 2024 Chicago Auto Show, with pricing to come.
