Last year, the Mercedes-Benz chief Dieter Zetsche stated that the Mercedes-Benz pickup truck is in works and they also released a sketch of what it will look like. Recently, a spy photographer managed to take pictures of a similar truck which we believe is the prototype for the new Mercedes-Benz pickup truck.

Reportedly, the German automaker’s pickup will feature the same platform as found in the Nissan NP300 Navara and will also share some of its components. The market for the light truck segment is very competitive, as automakers such as Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen and Nissan enjoy a high share. This is the reason why we believe Mercedes might introduce some new engine options for its trucks in both gasoline and diesel forms.

The new Mercedes-Benz pickup truck is most likely to be called GLT or X-Class, however the name is not confirmed yet. Mercedes is expected to showcase its brand new truck in concept form at the 2016 Paris Auto Show.
