A new, 700 metre long, three lane bridge has been opened to the general traffic, in a bid to remove tailbacks in Bur Dubai, one of the most crowded neighborhoods of Emirates. The bridge stretches from OudMetha Road to Sheikh Rashid Road, near Wafi.

This Wafi interchange bridge, which can easily handle nearly 3,300 vehicles per hour, is a new development by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in an attempt to ease the traffic flow coming from the Oud Mehta Road in the northern side and to make it combine smoothly with the flow coming from Shaikh Rashid Road to the west. This three lane bridge will ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic movement by getting rid of the overlapping traffic problems previously experienced at the intersection.

The total cost of the project comes to Dh88 million, and it is one part of the elaborate plan by the RTA to reduce long, congested traffic jams in Bur Dubai.
