The latest supercar features a turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 to deliver more than 600 horsepower. The body is built from expensive aluminium and carbon fibre. The previous GT model remained under production for only two years, after it debuted in 2005 and became an instant hit.
Even today, a 2005 or 2006 model GT is worth $300,000, according to Hagerty Insurance, a car collector firm. Ford had built around 4,000 GTs over the period of 2 years.
The modern GT models were built only to honour the original Ford GT40 racecars which won the first, second and third positions in the LeMans 24-hour endurance race fifty years ago,.
