A spy photographer has caught Volkswagen three row SUV being tested somewhere in Los Angeles near the company’s production facility. Surprisingly, it was not covered in a heavy disguise.

Volkswagen has not yet announced anything regarding its new SUV, but by the looks of this prototype, it seems very similar to the VW Cross Coupe GTE which was revealed last year at the Detroit Show. It is also possible that this Volkswagen three row SUV might use the ‘Tiguan’ nameplate.

The powertrain details are not yet known, but we predict that it might carry the same 3.6L V6 engine pumping in the 2016 Volkswagen Passat. Since Volkswagen has been lately working on hybrid powertrain, we can also expect its new models to be equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The new Volkswagen three-row SUV will most probably make its official debut next year and will be offered only in the North American market.
