The new and improved 2017 Toyota Prius Prime plug-in hybrid has been revealed at the New York Auto Show and it offers double the electric range compared to the previous model.

Powered by a 1.8L gasoline engine and an electric motor mated to an 8.8-kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery pack, the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime will extend a range of up to 120 miles per gallon. Running solely on the electric power, the Prius Prime can cover up to 22 miles distance. These fuel economy ratings make the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime the most efficient plug-in hybrid in the market.

Besides the increased electric range, the Prius Prime boasts LED headlamps as a standard feature and a new 11.6-inch infotainment display inside. New optional safety features include pedestrian detection, automatic braking system and adaptive cruise control.

Pricing details have not been announced yet, but Toyota states that the new Prius Prime plug-in hybrid will arrive at the dealerships in fall.
