A few days back, Mazda released a teaser image of what looked like the 2016 Mazda MX5 Miata hardtop version and stated that they are looking forward to introduce something big at the 2016 New York Auto Show. Our speculations were correct and the teaser image was in fact of the new Mazda MX5 Miata roadster. Dubbed as the 2016 Mazda MX5 Miata RF (Retractable Fastback), the roadster was revealed just a day before the official New York Auto Show event.

Covered in a sexy silver paint, the MX-5 Miata RF boasts a distinct roof and retractable window design, which can be conveniently opened and closed with a push of a button at a speed of up to 6 mph.

Surprisingly, even with the retractable roof, the 2016 Mazda MX5 Miata RF managed to retain the same cargo space as the standard model.

It carries the same, naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine generating 55 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, found in the soft-top model. The automaker will start taking orders in summer.
