The 2017 Acura NSX made headlines straight off the assembly line when the first production model was sold for $1.2 million at a US Auction. The retail price in the US starts at $157,800.

The Barret-Jackson auction is an annual event and the 2017 Acura NSX was definitely this year’s highlight being the highest charity sale for a VIN #001 car in 45 years. The vehicle with its coveted number plate is now under the proud ownership of Rick Hendrick, owner of the Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR team. Proceeds of the sale will go to the Paediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (North Carolina) and Camp Southern Ground (Georgia).

The 2017 Acura NSX holds the honour of being Acura’s first bespoke vehicle. The sporty supercar has a twin-turbo V6 engine, 9 speed DCT and is powered by a three motor electric hybrid system. The body architecture has also been enhanced using multiple materials. Acura claims the 2017 model of the NSX to be its most “human-centered” car.
