Sharjah Police has cracked down on expired vehicle registrations by removing 4,000 vehicles from the Sharjah Vehicle Database. The registrations of these vehicles had not been renewed by owners since the last five years.
The crackdown was initiated following the instructions of the Sharjah Police Commander-in-Chief, Brigadier Saif Al Ziri Al Shaisi, who aims to improve traffic conditions and reduce the number of vehicular accidents in the emirate. Vehicles with expired registrations are likely to be otherwise impaired due to lack of maintenance and may cause accidents.
The Police Commander-in-Chief has also requested vehicle owners to contact vehicle registration service centres for inspection and registration of vehicles in order to avoid cancellation.
