It looks like the French automaker is giving a major overhaul to the exterior of the 2017 Peugeot 3008, as evident from the recent spy shots. The current model was not holding its own in the face of rivals like Ford Kuga, Mazda CX-3 and Nissan Qashqai

The heavily camouflaged 2017 Peugeot 3008 displays a very different profile from the outgoing model – the vehicle looks more like an SUV than a crossover. The shorter overhands and rising flanks seem indicative of a roomier interior, and the sloping roofline gives the vehicle a more rugged look.

The 2017 Peugeot 3008 is being developed in partnership with General Motors, though it is based on the EMP2 PSA platform (featured in the Peugeot 308 compact hatch). It will be powered by Peugeot’s latest 1.2 litre 3-cylinder petrol engine. A hybrid options is highly likely with a gasoline-electric combo as the previous diesel-electric option of the current Peugeot 3008 has already been dropped.

It is expected to debut at the October Paris Auto Show.
