According to the performance chief at Hyundai, Albert Biermann, Hyundai is ready to introduce high-performance cars under the umbrella of Hyundai N division. The Korean automaker displayed Genesis G90 luxury sedan at the 2016 Detroit Auto show, and from press talks it can be inferred that the upcoming Genesis G70 might get the N treatment.
The Genesis brand marks Hyundai’s entry to the luxury car market segment and integrating it with the Hyundai N brand (meant for high performance cars) will take it into the big league with the likes of Mercedes-Benz C Class, Lexus IS, Audi A4 and BMW 3 series.
Albert Biermann clarified that the N-badge does not just refer to cosmetic changes but a complete overhaul resulting in racetrack ready high performance vehicles. He also said that both Hyundai and Genesis cars will be getting the N treatment for which a 5 year plan is already in place.
The G70’s concept model, expected to be displayed at the New York Auto Show in March, is meant to be a sporty ride reaffirming the supposition that the Genesis G70 will be treated by Hyundai N division.
