MINI USA has announced the pricing for the 2016 MINI Convertible and in a surprise move announced MINI John Cooper Works convertible variant – which is being touted as “the fastest, most powerful” convertible that ever rolled out of the MINI assembly line.

The MINI John Cooper Works Convertible is structurally the same as the hardtop model and made its first public appearance in October last year with the hardtop replaced by a folding canvas roof. Built with high road performance in mind, it is powered by a BMW engine – a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder TwinTurbo with a throughput of 228 hp and 236 ft.-lbs of torque. The car boasts 0-60 mph sprint in 6.4 seconds and is available with six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Further enhancing the road performance are sports exhaust, enhanced suspension technology and aerodynamic design features.

The pricing for the MINI Convertible Cooper starts at $25,950 while the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible is priced at $35,600.
