Hyundai demonstrates its go-get-em attitude with the Genesis brand by hiring the ex Lamborghini executive Fitzgerald with extensive experience in brand strategy. Manfred Fitzgerald worked at Lamborghini for over a decade as Director of brand and design prior to launching a consultancy firm.
Fitzgerald will be principal architect of Hyundai’s new luxury brand Genesis. The first vehicle in the line-up, the Genesis G90 large luxury sedan, was unveiled earlier this year. Genesis is Hyundai’s entry to the top end of the luxury car market and the Korean automaker is going all out with technological innovations for superior performance and luxurious driving experience.
The design for Genesis lies within the domain of Hyundai’s Prestige Design Division headed by Luc Donckerwolke (also a former VW/Lamborghini employee). The addition of Fitzgerald to the Hyundai team completes a trio of Volkswagen senior executives at Hyundai with Peter Schreyer (Chief Design Officer, Hyundai) making up the third.
