Porsche has announced to start the production of Mission E Electric Super Sedan. The manufacturing will be carried out at the company’s key site at Stuttgart, Germany, while the vehicle will hit the mainstream markets by the end of this decade.

The Mission E concept was presented as a four door coupe and received wide acclaim at the Frankfurt Auto Show 2015. Reportedly, the production version of the Mission E Electric Super Sedan will be light in weight and feature an electronic motor on each axle to provide better performance. With peak output of 600 horsepower, the car takes just 3.5 seconds to reach 100 km/h.

The Porsche Mission E Super Sedan will compete against Tesla’s Model S P90D which currently provides a drive range of 286 miles. To lead the competition, the Mission E will have a total drive range of 310 miles. Porsche is working on an 800 volt charger which will take just 15 seconds to charge batteries to 80% enough for a 200 miles range.

For the production of this all-electric vehicle, Porsche will invest around $760 million at its Stuttgart site. The company is planning to expand its Research and Development wing and build a brand new assembly line. With all these speculated features and investment, Porsche is all set to raise the bar of E-vehicle market in the coming years.
