The Toyota S-FR sports car concept received thumbs up from the fans at the Tokyo Motor Show held in October 2015. Its upgraded version known as the Toyota S-FR Racing has been revealed before its official unveiling at Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2016.The car has been developed by Toyota Gazoo Sports (official motorsports wing of Toyota) to be rear-wheel driven coupe. The front mid-placed engine is located close to the cabin to provide ideal weight distribution making this racing version lighter and more responsive.

Though no pictures of the interior have been released, the Toyota aims its S-FR model to be more “aggressive looking”. The automobile has a massive rear wing and diffuser along with front canards to make it look having a larger trail. The exterior and front splitter are said to be made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic to keep the weight around 2,220 pounds only.

Just like the interior, Toyota is tight lipped about the engine specifications as well. The Toyota S-FR Racing is expected to be equipped with a four cylinder 1.5 Litre naturally aspired engine with six gear manual transmission providing a total horsepower of 128. This combined with light weight body will be sufficient to ensure an excellent race-track performance even if the numbers might not be impressive. There is also a possibility of turbocharged1.2 Litre engine variant.

We can hardly wait for the concept launch next month. The event is scheduled to be held from January 15 till January 17, 2016 where along with Toyota S-FR Racing concept, the automaker will also unveil the revised versions of Noah MPVs and Voxy. We are still waiting for the official announcement whether the automobile will go into production or not. Keep watching this space for updates!
