Volkswagen’s lineup at the LA Auto show has included the brand new Beetle Denim and Dune. With the two special editions, VW hopes to angle the Beetle as a stylish lifestyle choice as well as a means of transportation.

The 1970s rhetro-inspired Beetle Jeans model has been reborn as the Beetle Denim convertible, with a turbocharged 1.8 litre TSi four-cylinder engine that pumps out 170 hp. The exterior is available in Pure White or stonewashed blue with a soft top denim-like textured fabric. Interior enhancements include a touch of light blue and silver, denim and leatherette seats and jeans-style pockets. The technological additions include a VW MIB II infotainment system, rearview camera and several connectivity options.

The 2016 Beetle Dune has been inspired by “Baja Bugs” that populate sandy terrains and has a more powerful look in line with its theme – eye catching front grille, enhanced bumpers and black wheel arches. Also reflecting the off-roading theme are the additional height, wider track and 18 inch wheels. The Beetle Dune comes with optional lighting accessories. Engine specs are the same as the Denim and both Beetle Denim and Dune are expected to go on sale early next year. The Dune convertible is expected to follow shortly.
