Speculation is rife regarding the name for Amazon Prime’s new motoring show hosted by ex-Top Gear Trio.

The trio signed on with Amazon after Clarkson was fired from BBC following a “fracas” with a producer. Amazon Prime paid “prime” money for getting the popular Top Gear hosts on board and has promised them creative freedom, which apparently extends to the show’s title as well.

Clarkson might be pulling one off on BBC by naming the new show Gear Knobs. According to BuzzFeed, the name has been trademarked by the law firm Olswang which has been handling legal matters for Clarkson for a number of years. The trademark is valid for television shows, merchandise and all kinds of printed material.

Clarkson’s future looked bleak after the much publicized incident at BBC in which he reputedly punched a producer in the face, but he made a huge come-back signing on with Amazon Prime. The new show will debut next year and has a stupendous budget of $250 million for 36 episodes which is roughly ten times more than Top Gear’s budget.

Amazon Prime seems all set to give Netflix a run for their money. The company reported a worldwide order growth of 266% in July this year.
