Rumours are rife about Ferrari, the Italian super-car manufacturer considering the candidature of Sergio Marchionne as next CEO of the company. With the retirement of current CEO, Amedeo Felisa, scheduled in the coming months, Marchionne has strong credentials to fill in his shoes, as he is already at the helm of Ferrari’s Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV.

Sergio Marchionne is said to be an “outside the box” thinker having the tenacity, confidence and ego to deserve the coveted CEO chair. It’s already speculated that Marchionne intends to take Ferrari into a new direction and has big plans in store like increasing production to 10,000 from 7,000 per annum. He also plans to revive the long dormant Dino series (named after Ferrari founder Enzo’s son).

Other than the appointment of a new CEO, the year 2015 is going to be momentous for Ferrari as it prepares for listing on New York stock exchange. The listing can increase the company’s coffer to fund a reportedly unprecedented amount of 48 billion euro investment plan.

As for Felisa, Ferrari hasn’t officially made any announcements about his replacement or even stepping down. Inside credible sources have maintained that it’s likely to happen soon. Nevertheless, Felisa will maintain an advisory role even after retirement.
