Lotus is planning to forward Evora roadsters to America, due to arrive next year, six months after the Lotus Evora 400 coupe hits the roads in December. The vehicles will be convertibles, but not typical foldable types, instead two carbon-fibre roof panels would be optionally retractable to the rear portion of the seats.
According to Automotive News, in addition to Evora 400 coupe, roadster variant is also expected to ingress the car marketplace in the US. The roadster is rumoured to encase a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine, which will be able to deliver 400 horsepower. Moreover, the car will feature a smart airbag and other additional traits to comply with US laws.
This is not the first attempt of Lotus Evora to dominate the US automotive market, the last model was rejected for not meeting the road regulations. Now with 3-Eleven also not certified for the road, the automaker’s only hope is Evora 400.
