To curb the growing number of road accidents in Qatar during the holy month of Ramadan, a special campaign is being organised at Souq Waqif by ‘Students for Road Safety’, a program sponsored by Maersk Oil Qatar. The campaign is aimed at creating awareness about road safety during this crucial month when road accidents escalate owing to negligence and haste of drivers.
The campaign incorporates a road safety simulator that is operated by professional driving instructors, who provide guidance and vigilance about driving safe during this season. This initiation has been promoted and supported by Ministry of Interior’s Traffic Department in association with the country’s road safety brand, One Second.
The simulator boasts a sophisticated technology and remains unparalleled as there is no other simulator to match its excellence in the entire gulf region. The simulator encompasses a complete car cockpit, and a hi-tech display system with a screen that bends along with an artificial intelligence engine that imitates driving behaviour on roads in Qatar.
Deputy managing director of MOQ, Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad al-Thani, commended the Ramadan campaign and insisted those who visit Souq Waqif to come by the simulator and seek counsel from the experts.
