BMW Group has been crowned as the overall winner of the esteemed 2015 Engine of the Year Awards. This win is the German automaker’s fourth clean sweep of internationally known awards cementing its position as the frontrunner in automobile engine making.

The drive unit of BMW i8 won distinction not only in the class it was competing, but also took home the overall winner title. The rest of the accolades were gathered by BMW M3 and BMW M4 engines in the 2.5 to 3.0 litre displacement category.

The BMW i8 based on its impressive TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder petrol engine clearly stood out and was accordingly voted class winner. The drive unit of i8 also garnered the “best new engine” in another class. The innovative combination of electric motor and petrol engine propelled it ahead of every other presentation in the show to achieve an overall victory.

Since the inception of the Engine of The Year Awards, BMW has managed 66 class and overall wins.
