Audi claims that its A6 TDI Ultra sedan can drive through 67 miles on one gallon of fuel, and to check this, two motorists drove through 14 different countries and have even set a Guinness World Record.

The UK based company RAC along with Audi planned to set this record of travelling through a number of countries on a single tank of fuel, and the route, which was planned, covered at least 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometres).

The team of two people who attempted this record included a professional race driver, Rebecca Jackson, and a motoring journalist, Andrew Frankel. The trip started from Maastricht on June 9th and passed through Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia before finally reaching Hungary.

Rebecca and Andrew drove the Audi A6 TDI Ultra continuously for about 28 hours and followed a pre-planned route which was provided by RAC to avoid unnecessary disturbance such as traffic jams and rough terrains, but the team has to face a few problems.

Nevertheless, the team was able to set the Guinness World Record and proved that the A6 TDI Ultra is in fact one of the most fuel efficient luxury cars available in the world. The ideal speed needed to achieve the 67 mpg rating, as calculated by the team, was 50mph.
