Speaking at the Annual Shareholders Meeting 2015 in Mountain View, California, CEO of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, maintained the company’s stance of making deliveries of the all-electric Model X SUV in the third quarter of 2015, i.e. September or October. Musk has been keeping a watchful eye on the various stages of development of the Model X and has claimed the upcoming model to be a better vehicle than the Model S.

According to Musk, Tesla’s engineers have been working on various aspects of the Model X, including falcon-wing doors and rear seats, to ensure that they are ‘just right’ before going into assembly.

Tesla’s Model X was originally scheduled to be released sometime around late 2013 with 10,000 to 15,000 vehicles to go into production the following year. Those plans had to be stalled as a result of major design complications , particularly those related to the SUV’s falcon-wing doors. In May 2014, Musk announced the date for the vehicle’s release to be sometime in the latter half of 2015.

During the meeting, Musk took the opportunity to also showcase a map for its supercharger stations in North America, which currently amount to 443 in total. In addition, he revealed that he has been testing the ‘autopilot’ system in the upcoming Model S electric car, the first batch of which is expected to roll out in a month.
