In the start of the year, Hyundai revealed Santa Cruz pick-up truck concept at the Detroit Auto Show, and now it is rumoured they are planning to start the production of it. In an interview conducted by Edmunds, the Hyundai director of product planning, Scott Margason stated that we are not going to design the vehicle from scratch, rather the Santa Cruz will use the Hyundai Tucson’s platform.

The official website reveals us the Hyundai Santa Cruz will be using a 2-litre turbo diesel engine that could produce 190 horsepower and 300 pounds of torque. The average fuel economy of 30+ mpg is also very impressive. The company might also introduce a diesel engine variant of the Cruz.

The concept design exposes it will be a perfect truck for personal use with a spacious cabin designed to carry 5 passengers and also accommodate luggage or gear. The price tag is not yet known, but it will surely be an affordable car with plenty of amenities to attract many potential consumers.
