The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S which is currently used as a safety car in Formula One racing events will now also be used in the Deutsche Tourenwagen (DTM) racing series. The new safety car is going to replace the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series and made its first appearance at the Lausitzring speedway.

Talking about the exterior, it possesses a notable light bar installed on the roof and some of the features are taken from the model’s Aerodynamics Package such as the front splitter and rear wing. The interior of the AMG GT S is equipped with sport bucket seats and six point seatbelts to ensure maximum safety.

The engine used in the Mercedes-AMG GT S DTM safety car is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 510 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. It is the same engine as available in the standard model. The powerful engine enables the car to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and the top speed of 310 km/h makes sure it is responsive enough during the live racing events.
