After a complete overhaul in design for the 2015 model, the sixth-generation Ford Mustang is said to be not much different from its predecessor. Nevertheless, the company is supposed to offer a range of packages and options for Mustang enthusiasts.
Two variants of the brand will grace the driving circuit; the 310 horsepower Mustang EcoBoost Premium and the 435 horsepower Mustang GT, each with its own set of options. Much of what Ford has to offer is based on previously popular selections; the California Special Package and the Pony Package, both of which debuted in the 1960s and featured in the S197 Mustang.
The Mustang EcoBoost Premium, which includes the Pony Package, is expected to feature a tri-bar pony emblem, side stripes, chrome window surrounds and 19-inch polished aluminium wheels. The Mustang GT’s California Special Package is expected to be equipped with hood vent-mounted turn signals (which has made a comeback from the 1967 Mustang), side stripes, a rear spoiler, a front splitter, a revised grille, a strut tower brace and 19-inch black aluminum wheels.
Buyers can also benefit from a new Black Accent Package which adds a black rear spoiler, black emblems and special 19-inch alloy wheels with a black finish as well as a new Performance Package which includes a larger radiator, a strut tower and ‘K’ brace along with a sport-tuned suspension with larger rear sway bars and heavy-duty front springs.
Combined with an engine-turned aluminium instrument panel with auxiliary gauges, a retuned stability control and steering system along with Ford’s next generation communications and entertainment system, SYNC 3, which offers enhanced interface, improved voice command and AppLink functionality, the 2016 Ford Mustang seems to represent speed, sleek design and comfort, all rolled into one.
