As the 2016 Toyota Mirai prepares for a release in October this year, Toyota has announced the names of the first eight dealers that will sell its hydrogen fuel-cell car. The dealership for the vehicle has been divided into two regions of California; Northern California traders include San Francisco Toyota, Stevens Creek Toyota, Toyota of Sunnyvale and Roseville Toyota while dealers in the southern part are Tustin Toyota, Longo Toyota, Toyota Santa Monica and Toyota of Orange.

Although the dealerships chosen may seem strategically located, Toyota has clarified that the initial dealerships were chosen on the basis of their proximity to hydrogen refueling infrastructure and their previous performance on the sale of advanced-technology vehicles.

Customers who will be applying online this summer to purchase or lease the 2016 Toyota Mirai will have to meet the eligibility of living or working near hydrogen fueling stations. The criterion has been set to help customers secure a potential parking spot for themselves.

After the Mirai release in October 2015, Toyota will become one of three car manufacturers that sell hydrogen-fueled vehicles in California. Production for Mirai will be set at 3,000 vehicles till 2017 in the U.S.
