Dubai Police have decided to beef up their security measures further by placing surveillance cameras on the bodies of police officials. The mini-digital cameras to be sported by the policemen for a six-month trial period are admirably efficient as they boast superior quality, portability, lightness and can capture videos for an estimable eight hours.

As per Major General Khamis Al Muzeina, Dubai Police Chief, the purpose of utilising these minuscule gadgets is to ensure that the police deliver the best security services to the public, and transparency is maintained in all encounters and communications between individuals and the officers. So far, 80 patrol officers have been equipped with these devices which are suitably placed on their shoulders to monitor the proceedings.

In case a complaint is registered against any officer, the cameras will prove to be highly advantageous to ascertaining the credibility of such allegations. The officers wearing them will have no control over the devices; they will be regulated independently. After every duty shift, the recordings extracted from the cameras will be relocated to a separate department at the Dubai Police Headquarters where they will be free from the risk of any damage or manipulation.
