Famous Seoul automaker, SsangYong revealed its all-new XAV at the 2015 Seoul Motor Show amid much fanfare. The new XAV, short for eXciting Authentic SUV, has all the thrills of a utility vehicle.
With a hybrid powertrain featuring a 1.6-liter engine paired to an e-4WD system that places electric motors to the front and rear wheels, linked to a lithium-ion pack, the XAV demonstrates company’s future design concepts.
The design with strong masculine lines draws its inspiration from the company’s model, the Korando, which first appeared in 2010. With an adaptive air suspension, a glove compartment that looks like the outside of an auxiliary fuel tank along with a canvas roof panel, the XAV is said to pay tribute to the original brand of SsangYong as well as ‘the frontier spirit of youth’.
The CEO Choi Johng-sik says, ”The XAV, a small, off-road concept SUV, embodies the direction of our new product development-the combination of a traditional SUV with the latest trends. We hope that this shows our firm commitment to becoming a global SUV maker as well as the unlimited potential of SsangYong Motor.”
