Moreover, Ford extends hybrid and Energy versions for environment conscious people, however these models are not available to us here in the Middle East. Walk Around

2006 Ford FusionFord Fusion was first introduced in 2005 as concept car, and the first generation went on sale in 2006 till 2012 and thereafter the last leap in its makeover which is the second generation that was introduced in 2013 with a stand-out looks, lively handling and a roomy interior make the redesigned 2013 Ford Fusion a great choice in its class.

While driving around the city we really enjoyed the brightness and ambiance of natural light coming through the sunroof. We recommend adding this to your selection, as it is available for all trim levels for the exception of the S model.

The S model comes with a 16-inch sparkle silver painted alloy wheels which are good enough for a daunting smooth ride and excellent road grip. For even better performance, you can opt for 17 or 18-inch wheels, which comes standard on the SE model.

Under the hood

Ford Fusion is powered with a base iVCT engine 2.5-liter that generates 175 horsepower @  6000 rpm and produce 175 pound of Torque @ 4500 rpm. The Fusion offers four-cylinder engine with 6 speed Selectshift automatic transmission, with a default drive train Front Wheel Drive.

However, Ford has introduced a new 2.0-liter Ecoboost engine that produce more power which translate into more horsepower, 240 to be exact @ 5500 rpm and produce 270 pounds of Torque @ 3,000 rpm.

EcoBoost uses smaller overall engine size combined with turbocharging, gasoline direct injection and variable valve timing for the power customers want and the fuel economy they need.

So here is the difference between both engines

At a glance, when you enter the Ford fusion you may think that it should look like any other sedan with its class because of its price, but you are totally wrong. Technology:

One word, we would have to say “wow”, we were surprised with the amount of technology suite of active driver assist that Ford has injected into this car, usually found only in luxury cars costing twice as much.

2014 Ford Fusion Driver Assist

I mean loads of technology which you will not find in Toyota Corolla, Nissan Altima or Maxima, Chevrolet Cruise or the Impala, at least not for the same price.

1-Lane Keeping System:

A camera mounted behind the windshield monitors road lane markings to determine vehicle position and detect a lane departure. With lane-keeping alert that warns you when you’re starting to drift through a series of steering wheel vibrations. Lane-keeping aid actively applies steering torque, which can help direct you to steer the vehicle back towards the target lane.

2-Blis With Cross Traffic Alert:

BLIS uses sensors to warn you when a car is in your blind spot. And cross-traffic alert lets you know when a car is passing behind you.

3-Forward And Reverse Sensing System:

Forward and Reverse Sensing Systems use sensors to audibly alert you to certain objects located directly behind you, or in front of you. The closer you get, the faster the beeps. So parking and pulling into traffic are a little easier.

4-Hill Start Assist:

Hill start assist automatically holds the brakes when you switch from the brake pedal to the gas. This way you can tackle even the toughest hill with ease.

5-Active Park Assist:

Well, if you drive a Fusion, all you have to do is activate Active Park Assist. It uses ultrasonic sensors to measure the distance to the curb and other parked cars. You control the shifting, accelerating and braking.

6-Adaptive Cruise Control And Forward Collision Alert:

Cruise control is great. But what if we could make it stand out a little more? That’s the idea behind adaptive cruise control. It uses sensors that can read when you’re getting too close to the car in front of you, then automatically slows you down.

7-Driver Alert:

Driver Alert uses the front-facing camera to detect a pattern of vehicle motion consistent with a drowsy driver, and provides a series of alerts to suggest the driver stop and rest for a while.

8-Security Code Keypad:

You don’t need keys to unlock Ford Fusion. Simply enter your security code and the doors will unlock. It’s a simple way by which Ford is opening doors to technology.

Driving Impression

Cruising in a homely Fusion space is an alluring experience that is not easy to let go once you get used to it. The electronic power steering allowed me to lead the way on the gesture of my fingertips. So smooth response makes you feel like you really own the car. The driver space had a spirit of serenity about it, I loved its quiet environment. It brings you the peace you seek in the urban areas, that other cars can give you only on the highways. The car befriends you the moment you step into it.

The upper speed limit wasn’t go-crazy, but turbocharged power-train is sufficient for timely conveyance. Things got a lot easier when we approached the parking lines, with the help of standard rear view cameras, integrated blindspot mirror and optional driver assistance systems.
