Mercedes is back in the game as it announces plans to unveil 10 new hybrid electric vehicles in its lineup for the next two years which means a new vehicle every four months.

As per Prof Dr Thomas Weber, who is part of the Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development, Plug-in hybrids are of paramount importance as they provide customers the opportunity to drive in all-electric mode to travel short distances as well as the option to take advantage of the combustion engine’s range during long journeys. He also laid great stress on the crucial role hybrids play in giving us an emission free environment.

Mercedes added a feather in its cap when it reported a 40% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of its European fleets, thus inspiring them to carry on this initiative with more hybrids.

As of now, the two vehicles that are slated for release this fall in the US are the 2016 C350e and S550e. Mercedes has given assurances that the C-Class vehicles including the GLE Class SUV will also receive the semi-electric treatment.
