Aston Martin has reportedly submitted trademark filings for the terms DB10 through DB14, hinting at the nameplates for upcoming models.

The trademarks could be used for five different models, but the company is expected to pick just one of the new DB numbers to adorn the next-generation DB9, according to an Autocar report.

Likely built upon the next-generation modular VH platform, the DB9 successor could be powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine borrowed from Mercedes-Benz’ AMG division. Hybrid variants are also said to be under development for later introduction.

Some executives are reportedly pushing to keep the DB9 model name for the revamped car, though DB10 has been viewed as the most likely choice.

Details will be fully revealed ahead of the model’s expected launch in 2016.
