McLaren has previewed its limited-edition MSO 650S, crafted by the company’s Special Operations division.

The model was initially teased in China as a one-off design study, however the company has decided to produce a limited run of 50 examples that are similar to the concept.

The MSO edition is outfitted with even more carbon fiber than the standard model, with unique side blades, a three-piece rear bumper and a more aggressive rear diffuser.

The exterior also benefits from 10-spoke Palladium-color lightweight alloy wheels, which feature a diamond-cut effect on the inside edge of each spoke. The wheels are said to be nearly nine pounds lighter than the standard components, held in place by lightweight titanium bolts.

The cabin has been upholstered in carbon black leather and Alcantara, with extensive use of carbon-fiber throughout. Satin carbon contrasts with gloss finish on the air vents and console, while a signature plaque on the MSO-branded side sill helps identify the limited run.

Both Coupe and Spider variants will be offered, with the first deliveries expected before the end of the year.
