BMW Automobiles has confirmed that it will bring its first electric sports car to the Middle East this month. The 2015 BMW i8 has made its debut in Europe earlier this week. This plug-in hybrid car delivers the appeal and performance of a sports car with extremely low fuel consumption and carbon emission.

The 2015 BMW i8 encloses 1.5 litre turbocharged engine, which is accompanied by 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. Both the engine and electric motor generate combined power of over 360hp. The power is displaced to all wheels, causing 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.4 seconds. Despite such performance standards, i8 takes just 2.1 litres to cover 100km of distance.

High performance of this hybrid vehicle is majorly based on BMW LifeDrive architecture. The upper life module is built with carbon fibre reinforced plastic, while the lower module is constructed out of aluminum. These lightweight elements allow the sports car to accelerate faster with maximum efficiency.

As the exact launching date has not been given yet, we cannot say anything about the price of this car in the Middle East until we hear from the manufacturer.
