Mercedes-Benz tuner Brabus has quickly developed several upgrade packages for the new GLA-Class, providing extra oomph for either the GLA45 AMG or basic GLA220 CDI.

The company has increased the power specs significantly over AMG’s own tuning for the GLA45, bumping output to 400 horsepower from 355 ponies produced by the stock 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Brabus ECU system also manages to squeeze 369 lb-ft of peak torque from the relatively small mill.

Drivers can experience the modifications by running a 100 kmph sprint from a standstill in just 4.4 seconds, before topping out at 270 kmph.

For the buyer with a focus on fuel efficiency, Brabus also offers a performance kit for the GLA220 CDI. An auxiliary control unit provides an extra 40 horsepower, squeezing 210 ponies and 302 lb-ft of torque from the diesel engine. Sprint time to 100 kmph promises to drop to eight seconds, while top speed increases to 220 kmph.

The tuner also offers a full range of styling elements to customize Mercedes-Benz’ new crossover, including body components and Monoblock wheels up to 21 inches in diameter. Owners can also add stainless-steel quad exhaust, custom interior options and lowering or raising kits to improve on- or off-road capabilities.

US buyers will have to wait until the GLA-Class itself arrives in the country before adding the Brabus upgrades.
