In an effort to transform Dubai into a smart city, Dubai Police has added a feature in its app that will allow motorists to report minor accidents on road, without the need to call the police to site. The app was introduced by Dubai Police in March this year.

If two or more cars happen to collide in Dubai, the new app feature, once launched, will give drivers the authority to open the application and immediately update the police, who in turn will generate an accident report that can be used to get claims from the insurance company.

The application is very easy to use, guiding users through a step-by-step process in both, English and Arabic. The motorist will have to provide number plates of both cars, photos of the damages to cars, the complainant’s licence number, the complainant’s email and a few other details that will help the officers understand the accident. Users can attach up to five photos to give a better understanding of the accident.

While the feature is set to be launched next month, it will provide several benefits. It will not just be a convenience to the drivers of damaged cars but also to commuters who otherwise have to wait for hours in traffic jam in even ordinary road accidents. Once the feature is available, visits to Dubai police station are also likely to be reduced significantly.
