Now in its tenth year on the market, the gorgeous V8 Vantage is entering the twilight of its lifecycle, but Aston Martin is keeping things interesting with a special edition GT model that combines a lower price with heightened performance.

Starting at $99,900 in coupe form – or $102,725 after destination charges and the gas-guzzler tax – the V8 Vantage GT isn’t exactly cheap, but it is $18,500 less expensive than the “base” model.

Despite its more modest pricetag, the GT boasts the uprated 4.7-liter V8 from the Vantage S. The mill produces 430 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque, compared to the standard car’s 420 ponies and 346 lb-ft. With the help of either a standard six-speed manual – a transmission that Aston has purged from many of its other models – or an optional seven-speed, single-clutch automated manual, that output is enough for a zero-to-60 mph sprint of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 306 kmph.

A stiffened suspension similar to that of the Vantage S is also part of the package.

Black exterior trim, clear-lens taillights, Vantage S side sills and graphite painted, diamond-turned 19-inch wheels give the GT a unique look. Buyers can also spec an exterior appearance package that evokes Aston’s racing heritage with contrasting grille “lipstick,” mirror caps, A-pillar rails and rear diffuser blade.

Interior upgrades include sports seats cribbed from the V12 Vantage S, “Plisse” Alcantara trim, machined carbon sill plaques and black magnesium paddle-shifters or a carbon fiber gearshift surround. A navigation system is standard, although expected items like cruise control, Bluetooth and heated seats are extra-cost options.

The V8 Vantage GT coupe, which will also be offered in $117,225 roadster form, is set to hit the market in the third quarter of 2014.
