Lotus has exciting plans for the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. The renowned automaker is set to make a big impression with an expansive display showcasing its latest offerings. Among the highlights will be the highly anticipated public unveiling of the Emira, featuring an impressive four-cylinder engine. Additionally, four exceptional Lotus vehicles will take on the challenging hill climb course, providing a thrilling spectacle for festival-goers.

Lotus is all set to launch the Emira with a four-cylinder engine borrowed from Mercedes-AMG. Customers can expect its arrival later this year, although the First Edition models won’t reach the United States until early 2024. This stunning car made its debut a couple of years back, offering two powertrain choices: a supercharged V6 sourced from Toyota and a turbocharged four-cylinder provided by AMG. These engines boast impressive power outputs of 400 and 360 horsepower, correspondingly.

The Emira represents the last car powered by traditional combustion engines in the company’s lineup. It serves as a successor to the Elise, Exige, and Evora models, which have been retired. With a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, this vehicle exhibits impressive acceleration, reaching 60 miles per hour in a swift 4.3 seconds. It boasts a remarkable top speed of 180 mph.

The Emira, equipped with a V6 engine, is scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2023, starting with the First Edition variant. However, it’s worth noting that the 3.5-liter engine is somewhat constrained by the chosen transmission. With the automatic gearbox, the top speed is limited to 169 mph, and it takes 4.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. On the other hand, the manual transmission option allows for a higher top speed of 180 mph and achieves the 0-60 mph sprint in 4.2 seconds. Interested buyers can purchase the Emira V6 First Edition at a price of $105,400 (excluding the destination charge).

The Eletre and Evija are also expected to make an appearance. The duo, along with the two Emira variations, will take part in the uphill challenge over the course of the weekend. The electric crossover will soon be shipped to customers in the UK and Europe, while the Emira and Eletre models will be showcased at the exclusive preview area of the event.

Lotus is putting in tremendous efforts to rejuvenate its range, and Goodwood serves as an ideal venue to exhibit its progress. The company is actively diversifying its offerings in the era of electric vehicles, making preparations for the upcoming Type 133 electric sedan, which keen-eyed photographers have managed to capture during testing. Sources suggest that this remarkable model is expected to deliver an astonishing power output of approximately 905 horsepower, similar to the acclaimed Eletre R.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed has emerged as a renowned destination for automobile manufacturers to showcase their latest vehicle models and innovative ideas. As expected, this year’s gathering will witness the unveiling of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Caterham Project V. Additionally, Lamborghini’s LMDh race car will make its first appearance, while the recently disclosed AIM EV Sport 01 concept will also participate in the exhilarating hill climb event.
